Goodnow House

Nestled in the woods with unequaled views of Tatamagouche Bay, Goodnow House is a unique home offering seaside recreation to couples, families and groups of friends. It is a haven for indivduals wishing to enjoy privacy and quiet space to write, reflect and relax. Just off the scenic Sunrise Trail (Route 6), our house is only a 5 minute drive from the shops and services of the farming and former shipbuilding community of Tatamagouche Village and as little as 45 minutes from larger centers like Truro, Amherst, and Pictou.  The  provincial capital city of Halifax is ~2 hours drive,  passing the  Halifax Stanfield International Airport after ~90 minutesOur cedar home has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and upper and lower wrap-around decks that provide generous views. The design of Goodnow House is unusual as it offers 10 skylights, two social areas (Great Room and Family Room), and private space for individuals to think or work (Reading Room, Bedroom/Office and Master Suite Office). The floors are an artistic blend of ash, cherry, and artisan laid ceramic tile with radiant (underfloor) heating. The house can accomodate 10 people very comfortably, but maintains a cozy feel for one or two. The upper and lower levels are designed to be used independently as each has bedrooms, a full kitchen and bathroom. .

  • A true 'Cook's Kitchen' with handcrafted natural cherry cabinets, artisan tiling and countertop propane stove (fully equiped).
  • Skylit Great Room with multiple garden doors to access the wrap-around deck.

  • Skylit Master Bathroom offers a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower.
  • Cozy Master Suite Office with skylights and  deck access.
  • Additional Office (or bedroom) with view and deck access.

 

Lower Level

  • Second Great Room (Family Room) has garden doors to access the property and satellite cable TV.
  • Convenience kitchen with oven, stove and mini-fridge.
  • Three separate bedrooms each with double beds.
  • Laundry facilities.
  • Bathroom and shower.

 

  • Cliff edge lookout and private waterfront access.
  • Large upper and lower covered decks with barbeque and teak patio furniture.
  • parking for 4 cars

General Information

Location: Goodnow House rests on the south side of Tatamagouche Bay just off route#6 of the Sunrise Trail. It is approximately 5 miles west of the town of Tatamagouche and 7 miles east from the historic town of Wallace.

 

Amenities: Tatamagouche has a Hospital, Pharmacy, Post Office, Bank, Laundrette, restaurants and grocery stores.  There is also a library, an art gallery plus many gift shops. In Wallace you can find tennis courts, a post office, local produce stores and a convenience store.

Beach: Direct private access to beach. Blue Sea Beach within 10 minutes

Sailing: Barachois Marina - 20kms

Golf: Northumberland Links, Ocean Links and Fox Harbour

Skiing: Ski Wentworth within 20 minutes

Other: Jost Vineyards within 2 kms, Maple Syrup Farm within 25kms. Numerous local walks and trails.
